A Day at Parliament Hill
Welcome to the birthplace of our divine country; Parliament Hill. Located in Ottawa, Ontario which is the capital of Canada. The Parliament Buildings were created from 1859 to 1866. One year after that, Canada became a country. The Parliament Buildings consist of the East and West blocks with the central block. There lies the Peace tower--right in the middle of the central block. But the central block you see today is not the original. The central block was threatened with a fire in 1916 and was completely destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1922 and the Peace tower was built in 1927. Enjoy guided tours for all sections (East, West and central blocks). There are even self-guided options where you can get a bird's eye view of Ottawa from the Peace Tower or the Memorial chamber which commemorates veterans. Does attending live debates thrill you? This can actually happen on a first-come, first-serve basis and you can come and watch proceedings in the Senate and the House of Commons when they are in session.
